Technician - Video Conferencing / Audio Visual Technical Support - DFAT

Role Description:

Cleared are working with the Department of Foreign Affairs' Information Management and Technology Division's Infrastructure and Operational Support Branch who are seeking a Video Conferencing/Audio Visual Technical Support for a 12-month contract with a 6-month extension which will be based in Canberra.


The technician will assist the DFAT Video Conferencing team by providing Level 2 technical support using DFAT ITSM tools, processes, and governance structures.

Additionally, they will deliver video conferencing concierge services to DFAT end users.

This opportunity is based at the Departments office at 51 Allara Street, Canberra.

Role Requirements:

  • Must hold a minimum Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance.
  • Competency with Cisco Products: Demonstrated skill in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco video conferencing and audiovisual equipment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL Framework: Understanding of ITIL practices pertaining to IT service management and operations, particularly in service request fulfillment, incident, and problem management.
  • Proficiency in Audio Visual Systems: Proven ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot various AV equipment and systems, including microphones, speakers, video monitors, projectors, and related technology.
  • Strong Customer Service Abilities: Effective interpersonal and communication skills to assist and resolve government customer inquiries and issues.
  • Problem-Solving Aptitude: Capability to swiftly diagnose and resolve technical issues in challenging environments.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: Necessary ability to obtain or hold a current government security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work environment.
  • Documentation Expertise: Competence in accurately documenting processes and incidents in accordance with organizational standards, ensuring clear communication and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed to support operations and special events.

    Essential Criteria
  • Certifications: Holding certifications tailored to Cisco systems, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Video Network Specialist, as well as an ITIL Foundation Certification or higher.
  • Government Sector Experience: Previous involvement in government or other regulated industries, showcasing an understanding of the unique operational and compliance challenges within these sectors.
  • Project Management Skills: Demonstrated experience in overseeing small to medium AV projects, encompassing planning, execution, and resource management.
  • Training and Mentoring: History of providing guidance and instruction to staff regarding the utilization of AV and conferencing equipment.
  • Innovative Thinking: Demonstrated capability to contribute to process enhancement initiatives within both AV and IT support domains.
  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to effectively collaborate within team environments, engaging with both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • A valid Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) or above security clearance is required. Candidates that do not have an existing valid NV2 clearance will not be considered.
