Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE) Support

Cleared is working with a Federal Government Department & looking to speak with Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE) Support candidates with at least a baseline clearance for a 36-month Contract based in Canberra!

The Opportunity:

The SOE support & Maintenance will play a crucial role within the team in Canberra, providing professional services to support and maintain the Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE).

This role is based ONSITE in Canberra.

Server SOE role will consist of the following:

  • Assist in Server (2016 and 2022) deployment via SSCM.
  • Support Windows Server OS patching via SCCM for both Corporate and DMZ servers.
  • Manage Server Group Policy Objects (GPOs), including evaluating and cleaning up Server GPOs.
  • Patch and update Virtual and Physical servers.
  • Test and automate updates.
  • Regularly update the base Server SOE to incorporate updates.
  • Migrate Server SOE from the SCCM platform to Microsoft Intune.
  • Common Responsibilities for Server and Desktop SOE Support:


Essential Experience:

  • Patch Management, utilizing Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and PatchMyPC.
  • Manage and optimize Desktop Application whitelisting, currently employing Applocker.
  • Identify and resolve OS and Application Faults.
  • Remove redundant OS and application images.
  • Align with ACSC Essential 8 requirements for patching and application hardening.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation.
  • Oversee OS and application Patch management.
  • Implement SOE changes and modifications.
  • Package applications in SCCM/Intune.
  • Provide guidance on best practices in accordance with Essential 8 and NMA IT security.
  • Tenders should outline their process (and cost model) for:


Desirable Criteria:

  • Patching updates for non-MS applications, including options for patching when disconnected from the Corporate Network.
  • Packaging and testing drivers for new hardware.
  • (Re)packaging apps of varying complexity levels.
  • Identifying SOE limitations and proposing improvements.
  • Organizational support for documentation and reporting.
  • Testing procedures for automatic SOE and application updates.
