Software Tester - Automation

Cleared ICT are currently supporting agencies within the national intelligence space, who are looking to engage NV1 or above Software Automation Testers for long term contract engagements in Canberra.
Requirements
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.
ASD requires an experienced Software Tester (Automation) to work within an agile multi-disciplinary delivery team to conduct software testing of internet-facing web applications.
The role requires an understanding of the ICT software development cycle, infrastructure, ETL and Compliance testing with an emphasis on test automation, test planning, test analysis, test execution and outcome reporting. The successful candidate will have broad experience in automation testing of complex integrated solutions comprising bespoke components with numerous system interfaces, including testing security use-cases. They will be comfortable operating as a hands-on Software Tester (Automation) using various automation tools for test design and execution, and the Atlassian stack for documentation and reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop test cases and supporting data using provided specifications.
  • Execute tests to analyse behaviour, functionality and integrity of systems or software against the project requirements.
  • Report on progress, defects, risks and issues; report on system quality and test case metrics.
  • Understand testing standards and best practice standards and user experience to implement and promote quality assurance practices.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing standards and definition of best practice.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with team members. Share expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Be accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and be responsible for complex areas of analysis and testing.
  • Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on technology trends and emerging technologies.

    Other Requirements
  • Candidates require an active AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 security clearance to perform the role. ASD will not sponsor candidates to obtain or upgrade their security clearances.
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) within 12 months of engagement.

    Working arrangements
    The successful candidate will work 5 days per week and up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, unless otherwise agreed with their manager. o The role is Canberra based, o This is a full-time role and the candidate is expected to work five days a week. o There is an expectation that the successful candidate will work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week unless pre-approved by the ASD Contract Manager. o The role is Canberra based, however interstate candidates will be considered. o The successful candidates are expected to work in the Agency's Canberra office o The Agency will consider and negotiate offsite (work from anywhere) working arrangements on a case by case basis. Information on ASD's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) An OSA is an ASD policy requirement for contractors who will be engaged for a period in excess of 12 months and are conducted to determine a person's suitability to work in ASD. The OSA requires a psychological assessment, which involves a questionnaire and an interview.     Criteria
    Essential criteria
    1. The ability to engage effectively with business analysts and developers to clarify requirements and describe gaps and issues in both documented requirements and code.
    2. Prior experience in analysing business requirements, writing detailed test cases and ensuring comprehensive coverage of user stories and other requirement documentation.
    3. Prior experience in identifying and reporting defects by clearly communicating issues and tracking defects within the appropriate test management tools.
    4. The ability to foster positive team relationships through collaboration, teamwork, and good communication skills.
    Desirable criteria
    1. Experience in integration testing across a range of service interfaces (including REST) and as a test analyst in an agile scrum context is considered desirable.
    2. Experience as a test analyst in an agile scrum context.
    3. Strong administrative and time management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise work, allocate tasks and to work independently when required.
