Systems Engineer - Senior

Our client is a leading supplier to the Defence, Space, Network solutions and ICT sectors across Australia and overseas, and is looking to expand its team of highly capable engineering and project professionals in light of recent project support for a multi-million-dollar Defence SATCOM project.
Must have experience across the Systems Engineering lifecycle with an understanding of SATCOM, Satellite and/or communications engineering and familiar with Defence procedures and frameworks (i.e ASDEFCON)
Must have a current NV1 clearance. Higher levels also accepted.
Contract 6-months with possible extension.

The Systems Engineer - SGS-E Sustainment is a role responsible to the SGS-E Project Manager for the transition of SATCOM ground station infrastructure into a Sustainment footing. The Systems Engineer will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team and will assist with the completion of a large number of tasks and documentation to enable sustainment of a vital satellite communications facility.

The individual will have excellent knowledge of the Australian Defence environment, ASDEFCON Support Contracts, SATCOM and ICT systems, Defence engineering and have experience in delivering Defence Projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineering Management of a satellite ground station within an ASDEFCON framework
• Safety and risk engineering and management for the Project
• Development and maintenance of engineering reporting
• Supplier and sub-contractor relationship management
• Customer relationship management
• Team management
• Communications with key engineering stakeholders

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

• 5 - 10 years' experience in Defence Engineering Projects
• Engineering qualification of at least Bachelors level from an accredited organisation
• Outstanding track record of success in meeting engineering objectives within the Defence and Government environments
• Good understanding of satellite communications and satellite ground stations
• Good understanding of Change Management governance and processes
• Knowledge of, and experience with, ASDEFCON suite of documents
• Demonstrable ability to build trusting relationships, conduct business with cultural sensitivity and possess strong knowledge of the diversified satellite communications marketplace
• Outstanding Presentation Skills and inter-personal skills
• Ability to travel regularly both regionally and internationally, up to 50%
• Be fluent in English speaking and be an Australian citizen based in Australia
• Active Australian Government security clearance (NV1)
